Whether you are a long-time resident, a recent transfer, or someone brought up here years ago, we think you’ll agree Whitley County is a great place to call home. At the Community Foundation, we believe it can be even better. That’s why each day we work to find ways to improve our little corner of Indiana. It might mean creating a program to meet health needs, or making a grant to fund important community projects. Other times our work involves partnering with donors and tailoring options to help them meet their charitable goals.

Community Foundation Announces 2026 Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship

The Community Foundation of Whitley County is pleased to announce the recipient of the 2026 Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship for Whitley County – Cadence Henderson, a senior at Columbia City High School. Lilly Endowment Community Scholars are known for their community involvement, academic achievement, character, and leadership.

New Scholarship Portal coming soon!

The Community Foundation will be implementing a new scholarship portal for the 2025-2026 school year. 

The new portal will allow applicants to only complete one application for several scholarships.   The application process should be more streamlined and less time consuming for everyone.

Scholarships will be online starting January 1, 2026 and will still be due on April 15, 2026.

LEGACY FUND ESTABLISHED TO HONOR WHITLEY COUNTY NATIVE ELI B. MICHEL

While Eli will never be forgotten by the people who knew and loved him, his parents, Rick & Dawn Michel, have turned their efforts to honoring the intangible gifts that are Eli’s legacy. To ensure that for generations to come his character, reputation, accomplishments, and memories will continue to inspire a quest for outdoor adventure in young people, they have created the Eli B.
